Issues connecting to a VM

Hello! I have a user who is attempting to connect to a windows 7 VM using RDP. Whenever get goes to connect, he gets an error saying "Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again". This is causing some impact to our workflow so any tips would be greatly appreciated!
