Along with commercial pre-release availability, we are also offering free support for commercial organizations running these builds. This means you can test this release—and your preferred deployment methods—while remaining supported prior to general availability.

Below you will find additional details on how to deploy the Windows 11, version 22H2 preview from various channels. For future updates on preview release information, details on upcoming features, and more, please follow the Windows Insider Blog.

Access commercial previews using Windows Update or Windows Update for Business

Commercial devices configured for the Windows Insider Program Release Preview Channel via the Windows Update Settings page or via Windows Update for Business policy will automatically be offered Windows 11, version 22H2 as an optional upgrade provided that the device(s) meet the Windows 11 hardware requirements. If you do not wish to upgrade a device to Windows 11, version 22H2 and are running Windows 10, simply select “Stay on Windows 10 for now”. To stay on the initial version of Windows 11, simply do not select to download and install Windows 11, version 22H2.

The Windows 11, version 22H2 preview is completely optional. You can choose to remain on your current version of Windows and continue to receive preview quality updates for that version.

Note: We consider a device a commercial device if it is being managed by an IT administrator (whether via Microsoft Endpoint Manager or another management solution) or it has a volume license key, a commercial ID, and/or is joined to a domain.

Access commercial previews using Windows Server Update Service (WSUS)

Windows 11, version 22H2 is now available in the “Windows Insider Pre-release” category in WSUS and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. Make sure to sync the “Windows Insider Pre-release” category in order to have Windows 11, version 22H2 show up as available in your console.

Note, as with the initial release of Windows 11, if a device is configured to send diagnostic data, but does not meet the hardware requirements, the Windows 11, version 22H2 upgrade will be marked as inapplicable in WSUS.

i received that message to update, but, my laptop has an old processor i7-5500U, I can update to this version without problem?

Gold Contributor

Hi @nerioindriago

As of October 2021, Insider program participants can no longer install Win11 on computers that do not meet the system requirements.

So trying to install will end up with an error.

Thank you for sharing, good to see deployment is easy and smooth.

Hello! Windows 11 Enterprise OS Build 22000.776 on release preview channel sign in with Microsoft 365 work account and doesn't show 22H2, are any kind of blockers in place for Surface Book 3?

Copper Contributor

I have Surface Book 3 and 22000.76 came down on that, but I've not seen it appear anywhere else. I've tried it on five other devices (i5s and i7s) that are between 3 years and 3 months old. This seems flakey to me.

Hi @Chris Blake for my Surface Book 3 22H2 was not showing using Windows Insider Release Preview... I change to Beta Channel then 22H2 show on Windows update right away.

Gold Contributor

Hi       @CloudM1

Yes, but after changing the channel to Beta -> the installation will be withdrawn!

If I made a mistake, please write how 22H2 Win11 works?

Copper Contributor

If device meet Windows 11 requirements I don't see any problems also I turn on Unenroll this device when the next version of Windows releases to stop getting preview builds.

Copper Contributor

Hi @CloudM1

That’s the thing. All six devices are running Win11 quite happily, either Enterprise, Pro or Home versions.  It’s showing up on only one of them. The blog post is written a bit ambiguously; it talks about devices meeting Windows 11 hardware requirements but it doesn’t say whether there’s a different set of requirements for this preview build.

Copper Contributor

@Chris Blake Even I wait a few weeks Windows 11 22H2 was never offer for any of my devices on Release Preview, that only happened once I switch to Beta Channel.

I think that in this case switching the channel to Beta is not a solution - that's why I ask if this update was successful (and you have installed and working Win11 22H2. )

Please reply.

Copper Contributor

Hello @A1 in my case using Surface Book 3, Surface Laptop GO and a few Dell Latitudes switching from 21H2 stable builds to Release Preview never offer 22H2, when I switch to beta 22H2 appears immediately and was successfully installed without any trouble.

Gold Contributor

Thank you!   Build 22621 ->this is the Beta channel version, so it works! Microsoft has simply made it available to the RP channel. even for me it is confusing, it makes a fuss!
