Microsoft

As you start to fine tune your Microsoft Ignite schedule, you’ll notice the more than 100 sessions focused on Windows, making it difficult (to say the least) to know which sessions should be on your list. From a first look at Desktop Analytics and the Microsoft Managed Desktop to deep dives on Windows Autopilot, Windows servicing, Delivery Optimization, and credential protection, there is so much to learn.

The good news is that nearly every breakout and theater session will be streamed live—and available on demand after the event. Simply visit MyIgnite and sign in with the account you used to register for the event to browse the session catalog and attend any session virtually. Can’t attend in person this year? Not a problem, visit MyIgnite and sign in with your Tech Community account to access daily live streams featuring a pre-show and end-of-day wrap-ups.

Unless you’ve mastered quantum physics and discovered a way to be in two places (or three or four) at once, you can’t attend every session. So here’s a quick, day-by-day guide to the activities that will put you on your way to becoming an expert in Windows 10 and the modern desktop.

Ask the experts

In addition to breakout sessions featuring demos and presentations on the latest technologies and tools, which typically include time for Q&A, we’ve also organized some dedicated Q&A sessions so you have an opportunity to ask questions and talk to experts from Microsoft and the worldwide IT pro community. Check out the Ask the experts: Successfully deploying, servicing, and managing Windows 10 and the Configuration Manager Product Team Chalk Talk on Thursday afternoon.

Hands-on labs and Immersion Workshops

If you’re onsite, you can gain valuable hands-on experience with Windows 10 security, deployment, and management scenarios with hands-on labs, Hands-on with Modern Desktop Deployment: Deploying Windows 10 + Office 365 ProPlus Tech Workshops, or one of our Microsoft 365 Modern Desktop Immersion Workshops. An Immersion Workshop (also known as CIE) is a hands-on introduction that will take you through everyday business scenarios and let you see how to address those scenarios in an easy, convenient, and secure way using Microsoft 365 and the latest modern desktop environment.

Here’s a list of the some of the labs you’ll find at this year’s conference:

  • HOL2026 - Using Credential Guard
  • HOL3003 - Getting started with co-management using System Center Configuration Manager and Intune
  • HOL3004 - Secure your enterprise data on mobile devices with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Intune, including Conditional Access and Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
  • HOL3008 - Managing Configuration Manager OS deployment and update task sequencing
  • HOL2024 - Hands on with Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection: You protect, we attack!
  • HOL2027 - Manage Windows Autopilot by using Microsoft Intune
  • HOL2028 - Migrating GPOs to MDM
  • HOL2030 - Integrate your on-premises Active Directory domain with Azure AD

Microsoft Mechanics Live!

Microsoft’s official show on the latest tech is live again at Microsoft Ignite this year. We’ll start off the week with Brad Anderson talking about how to shift to the modern desktop on Monday evening, then journey through the latest improvements in desktop virtualization, device and app readiness, Azure Active Directory, security and compliance, and more throughout the week. Then, back by popular demand, we’ll wrap up the week with the Desktop Deployment Jeopardy Game Show featuring MVPs Ami Arwidmark, Johan Arwidmark, and Mikael Nystrom.
