Windows 11 Laptop Fan Loud at 0% CPU Why?
My Windows 11 laptop fan is spinning full speed and loud, but CPU usage is 0–5%. No heavy apps just idle.

Just because Task Manager shows 0-5% CPU usage doesn't mean the system is truly idle. Windows has background processes (like virus scans or system maintenance) that pause the moment you open Task Manager to check them.

Yeah it feels weird when the fan gets loud even at 0% CPU but it can still happen sometimes because background tasks or updates in Windows 11 run silently and don’t always show high usage, also dust inside the laptop or an aggressive fan setting can make the fan spin faster, sometimes GPU activity also heats things up even if CPU looks idle, a quick restart or cleaning the vents usually helps but if it keeps happening then it could be a cooling issue.

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and go to the Details tab. Sort by the CPU column to see every single process running. Look for anything using more than 1-2% consistently
