Window defender Black Screen

Since last week, my Windows Defender hasn't been working. In the Control Center, it says, 'The Windows Security Center Service can't be started.' Additionally, when I open Windows Defender, it displays a blank or black screen. Please help me fix this.

I'm having a sort of similar issue on Windows 10. Will this fix work for Windows 10? Will it do damage to Windows 10?

I fixed it by booting Windows 11 in safe mode. After that, exit safe mode and the problem never appears again.

Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause black screen issues. You need to download the latest graphics driver from the official website.

A simple reboot could be enough. I came across this problem a few days ago and it was fixed after restart.

Does this delete user and app data in C drive?

No. However, you should back up the data in case of unexpected failure.

Run Windows Troubleshooter. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. Run the troubleshooter for Additional troubleshooters related to hardware and devices.

I know I'm almost a year late, but I have a fix - the only one that has worked for me.

The issue I had was that I needed to delete the "Security Health" folder (Windows/Sysem32). Of course I couldn't delete it because the permission was locked to 'SYSTEM'. What you need to do is make your main log-on account have privileges to access files in the same way as SYSTEM does. Once you've enabled the permissions, you can delete the folder. Once the folder is deleted, restart your PC and run Windows Update after. It will download the latest version of Windows Security and BOOM. It will now be working.

Some sort of bug locks the Security health folder, and that seems to stop it from working. Once you get rid of this problematic folder, you should be golden.

Here's a vid of how to delete a file/folder when it's locked by "SYSTEM":
