Unable to Install Cumulative Update (KB5020035)

Been using Windows 11 for months on a new Lenovo Legion. Suddenly dealing with several problems starting last night:

 

1. Attempts to install Cumulative Update (KB5020035) result in Install error - 0x800f0988

2. Wifi no longer connects automatically (I have to manually cycle wifi on and off to get it to recognize wifi networks)

3. System icon no longer opens (I have to search for "Windows Update" in order to get it to come up). Once it's up, selecting the "System" icon in the left pane will shut the window down.

 

Naturally, I wouldn't mind some help. I'd like to understand why this is happening and see if there's a way to fix it.

    Please check out the steps from this discussion, but unfortunately you may need to reinstall Windows, but this is the last step to fix it 🙂
