Stop Windows Update from automatically shutdown my running programs and RESTART my PC!!

I have told you over and over on Feedback to never ever go and RESTART my computer and shut down my running applications while I am just out for a short while.

I would like you to contact the correct department in Microsoft - the IT Engineers / Programmer directly and tell him that before he rolls out another Windows Dev Insider Built that he manages to program Windows to never ever automatically RESTART as he see I am not here for a while and it does not make sense for this Windows Update Restart not to see that there are active programs running - and to me for the user, all your Windows Updates are called Security Updates so I have no clue what you put in it and I really never ever ever every see any improvement whist running so extremely much updates on my computer. You need to understand that this is my PC I bought and paid for and I need to be in control - not Windows Update Restart. No Update can be that extremely important to have to be installed right this instant. So understand that I had yet again today programs open and programs running and now they are closed due to the restart. I have so many times written Feedbacks but you never

I need Windows Update Automatic RESTART urgently to stop

The Programmer needs to program Windows to force stop the Restarts and closes my applications as I want them to convert a video over night and when I wake up I want the video to be done - not a blank desktop staring at me and a whole night wasted and set back

-do you understand what huge loss this is for me

I don't have R8,000.00

and I cannot get paid to pay the license

Please - stop the automatically REStART of my computer - I sometimes Hibernate my PC and once a week Restart my PC - I want to be in control as I have the buttons in front of me and I have programmed and setup my Power Setting options to not run screensavers etc. or to go to sleep if my video conversions is running which run for lots of hours during the night.

I just really need my pc to never ever restart and close my programs. If it could restart and continue my programs that would be OK but I have custom programs and that would not work

So tonight, I just went to the shop and when I came back my computer was shut down and when I logged in I stared at a blank desktop - when I went to the video I started before I go - only 87mg big - so the Restart was suddon before I leave.

now sometimes the pc asks me if I would like to restart - but it is asking the ghost in my room when I am not here and whoops - there goes the wheezel

I really need the next major update to have this fix in please

December 1, 2022, 8:08 pmLouis
to me it is urgent as I could not afford another shut down of my programs

December 1, 2022, 8:08 pmLouis
Now - another thing - I had my Accounting program opened since last night as its license expired last night - and now it is closed and I cannot open it again - I have to pay R8,000.00 for a new license and I was planning on working tonight - now I cannot get money in for my businiss.

So Please urgently Fix Windows Update!

Thank you.

    LPJ26  Hi

Of course, this is not a correct solution, but if you really need to have the computer turned on and open programs, e.g. at night, it is enough that you pause the update for 7 days, but the next day you resume the update at a time when the computer can be restarted and turned on the power will allow you to properly implement updates, certainly as you pause the updates will not automatically restart in this way you can easily control this problem:)

Thank you, I will give that a try and see if it works in the long run. But then again, if you click on the Advanced Options button, there inside you find the settings stating that you don't want to be bothered to get up to date and active hours and then notify me when an update is available, where I have unticked them all and it still asked the ghost in my room if I want to restart and then it goes and restart anyway. So that does not make any sense and the buttons are not working properly so I hope that too can get fixed.

I expected you to be able to properly configure the update settings, but only pausing ensures that the computer will not restart, but you should not pause updates all the time (only when you think it is necessary.)

        Good luck
