Settings App Crashes When Trying to Access Power Options

Copper Contributor

I discovered a new issue today with the Settings menu. Previously, everything was functioning smoothly the last time I used it.

Most of the settings within the system are operational except for two: when I navigate to System > Power, the Settings app crashes. Similarly, attempting to access the Screen timeout options within Personalization > Lock Screen > Screen timeout also causes a crash.

All other Settings are unaffected by these issues.

The SFC scan didn't detect any problems during the check.

Furthermore, I observed that the Lock screen timeout feature is not functioning properly as I am required to lock the PC manually using WIN+L shortcut.

@EthanPark The symptoms you've described are quite specific, and it's possible that there's a specific issue with the Power Options or Screen timeout settings.

Restart Your Computer
Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Restart your computer and see if the problem persists.
Run Windows Update
Ensure your system is updated. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that are causing applications to crash.
Steps:
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.
Run the System File Checker

Corrupted system files can cause applications to misbehave. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

Steps:
Press Windows + X and select Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
Wait for the process to complete and then restart your PC.
