Problems installing display drivers on Windows Server 2025

Copper Contributor

Hello! Recently, I just installed Windows Server 2025 on my computer, and I cannot install the display drivers I desire - from the Lenovo Thinkpad 15ALC7 page. Using the installer from the manufacture's site doesn't result in the new display driver installed. It just keeps being on "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". Any idea on a solution?

1.Check Compatibility:
Confirm that any driver you are attempting to install explicitly supports Windows Server 2025.
2.Use Device Manager:
Right-click on the Start button > Device Manager > Find your display adapter, right-click it and select "Update driver." Choose "Browse my computer for drivers" and point it to the location where you downloaded the driver.

3.Run as Administrator:
Ensure you run the installation executable with administrative privileges. Right-click on the installer and select "Run as administrator."

4.Uninstall Previous Drivers:
If you have tried installing different drivers, it may help to uninstall the previous ones first. Go to Device Manager, right-click on the display adapter, and choose "Uninstall device."

5.Check for Windows Updates:
Make sure your system is fully updated, as certain Windows Server updates might address PM compatibility issues.

6.Use Compatibility Mode:
If you are using a driver intended for an older version of Windows, try running the installer in compatibility mode. Right-click the setup file, go to Properties > Compatibility, and select an earlier version of Windows.

7.Windows Features:
Ensure that any relevant Windows Features are enabled (like the Remote Desktop feature if applicable), which may impact driver functionality.
