Preview Build N24H2 Does Not Detect HDR Status Properly

Copper Contributor

Hello everyone, seeking assistance for a recurring issue:

I am currently running version 26100.1000, and I have encountered the same problem with both an upgrade from 23H2 to 24H2 and a clean ISO installation I performed to try and resolve the issue.

When upgrading from 23H2 to 24H2 without updating the Nvidia graphics driver, the HDR toggle functions properly. However, upon updating the driver, HDR detection malfunctions. Subsequent attempts to install or reinstall Nvidia drivers, utilizing various methods such as a dirty install, clean option, DDU in safe mode followed by a fresh installation upon restart, have been unsuccessful in resolving the issue. Additionally, the behavior remains consistent regardless of whether I use or remove the monitor driver.

1.Check Display Settings:
Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
Scroll down to "Windows HD Color" and check if HDR is enabled for your display.
Make sure your monitor or TV supports HDR and is set to the appropriate mode (e.g., game mode, HDR mode).
2.Update Graphics Drivers:
Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. You can visit the manufacturer’s website (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) to download the latest drivers.
Consider performing a clean installation of the drivers if you have recently updated them.
Go to Settings > System > Display. Ensure that Windows detects your monitor as HDR-capable. Toggle the Use HDR option off and then back on.
