Feature request: Windows Hello prompts for a fingerprint when the fingerprint reader is unavailable

I'm running Windows 11 on a laptop that is connected to an external monitor. The lid of the laptop remains closed. When Windows Hello activates it defaults to requesting a fingerprint even though the fingerprint reader is inaccessible (again, the lid is closed).

If the laptop's lid is closed Windows Hello should default to either a pin or password.

I have Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\LidReliablityState set to 1.

I would recommend open start and search for feedback and open the Feedback Hub app and create a suggestion and request this feature.

Great this way the Windows team would have a look at it and people who are agreed with your feedback could upvote it and feedback with more vote gets more attentions.
