Re: Preventing attendees from starting meeting before organiser
PositiveEnergy This is not the issue. I already have my lobby set up like that. I (and I think several others) are talking about the fact that students can start meetings and sit in the lobby for hours. Most of the time when I join a meeting I have a similar message to the one attached. For those who are not educators and can't figure out why this is a problem, students are very good at getting around doing things they should be doing. If they start all of their meetings in the morning, they can walk away from their computer and be "in" class without actually attending. I know this is happening because sometimes, I end the meeting and restart it myself and not all of them come back. I've also left meetings going after class time and have "students" sitting there well into their next class. I know there is a setting at the district level but clearly our district doesn't feel it is important enough to change.7.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Only owner of the Team to start the meeting call
ChristianBergstrom I have seen the answer to this is a setting but that setting usually lives at the district level in the IT department. Our IT department can barely help with simple issues (yes, it is as insanely frustrating as it sounds) and have pretty much ignored requests or suggestions for what could make Teams run better for us. I'm hoping there is something Microsoft can do to bring that setting down to owners, maybe overriding whatever a district has in place. Considering this program was born to be used in the workplace, I can't imagine that there would be anything that would be risked by giving teachers all the settings they need to run their classes effectively.4.5KViews0likes1CommentRe: Only owner of the Team to start the meeting call
hhbadarin have you figured out the answer to this? I get your frustration in people not answering your question. Maybe I understand you because I came here looking for the same answer but it doesn't seem like it was addressed. I have kids starting meeting 15 minutes before they start, I don't care whether they are talking to each other or not (which they can't because they are all in the lobby) I don't want my meetings starting that early. One student told me she starts all her meetings for the day at the beginning of the day so she "won't be late" (there is no tardy policy right now because of DL so I don't buy it). Students start the meeting on their end and walk away. If I don't want kids in my classroom before class starts, I don't open the door, I want that same option in Teams.47KViews1like7CommentsRe: Problem with Teams Assignments 10/1/20
kevinh-ms I am aware of this, thank you. As I said though, "it's easier to click on Assignments and then filter from there than drilling into a specific Team." I have five classes and often I am bulk grading in multiple classes. Removing the filter option adds more clicking (three minimum if you aren't already in a Team and/or your assignment isn't already graded). Checking on an assignment that I already graded in one of my classes requires four clicks from the Assignments section.1.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Problem with Teams Assignments 10/1/20
Leif Brenne That is great to hear thank you. I think if I were a student, I would prefer it this way because everything is in one place and I'm hoping this makes things easier for students. But I don't always assess the Assignment section because I'm grading. Sometimes I'm looking for an assignment and I mentioned, it's easier to click on Assignments and then filter from there than drilling into a specific Team. Sometimes I need to jump back and forth from an assignment in one class to another in a different class and the Assignments section made that easier to do. Now I have to look closely to find what I'm looking for.1.6KViews1like0CommentsRe: Problem with Teams Assignments 10/1/20
Leif Brenne It doesn't help. It takes time to navigate in and out of assignments by period. Is there anyway you can at least put the filter option back so that we have the choice. Not sure if you consulted any teachers before making this change but it is NOT useful for teachers that have multiple classes which I would argue make up more of the population using them. Sorry to make a big deal about three clicks to get to where I need to be but now there is no use for the Assignments section for me. Very disappointed.1.6KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Assignments and Calendar Integration
Mr_Bur Looks like they have since fixed that but now it is a nightmare for me to find a specific assignment for a specific class. Not helpful while trying to process grades. Too many extra clicks to drill into each Teams' assignments. Dear T_Burns WE NEED AN ASSIGNMENT CALENDAR YESTERDAY!10KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Problem with Teams Assignments 10/1/20
MrLively I don't know what happened but we got the same thing. Not sure the logic behind that except for maybe students sake. Would be nice if they left the filter option. Don't really have to for the extra clicks it takes to get to assignments by class.1.6KViews0likes1Comment
