Re: Are A3 and A5 licenses not good enough to get Windows Autopatch?
We recently announced availability of Autopatch Groups and Reporting to A3+. The features are being rolled out over the next several weeks. More info here: Why Windows Autopatch is the smart update solution - Windows IT Pro Blog153Views4likes0CommentsRe: Remote desktop services
marvin_r MSIX is only https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/supported-platforms on Windows Server 2019 and later as the fully managed deployment stack for Servers. MSIX app attach is a newer feature for Windows Virtual Desktop and will be supported for Windows Server 2022. There is an option to leverage https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/msix-core/msixcore for these down-level OSes. MSIX Core allows the ability deploy an MSIX on earlier OSes, but works more like an MSI. okoenders No, the Desktop App Converter was deprecated in 2019. If your app is under active development we recommend using the https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/desktop/source-code-overview in Visual Studio. If your app is not under active development we recommend using the https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/packaging-tool/tool-overview or an https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/partners product. Jozef Izso We understand your excitement for this ask. Unfortunately this is all we can disclose and are unable to provide more timelines at this time. Please follow Office and MSIX blog for a formal announcement as more becomes available. John Vintzel (@jvintzel) PM Lead, MSIX9.6KViews0likes7CommentsRe: MSIX Dependencies
alexmarin89 The dependency field is similar to the appxmanifest and intended for framework packages. Looking at the files it appears you are trying to leverage the dependency field to chain install multiple main msix packages, which is invalid for that field. vshmelev You may also want to verify the Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller app is installed. You can do this by running the following command from PowerShell Get-AppPackage Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller We have seen power users bulk purge this when removing preinstalled apps. It newer versions of Windows this will be non-removable to prevent accidental uninstall. bJozefiak Windows and Office are working hard to enable M365 Apps (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to be packaged and delivered in MSIX format with the same full extensibility that customer enjoy in Click-to-Run and MSI; we’ll communicate details and timelines as these become available. Mo_Velayati Are you able to file a feedback item on the affect devices so we can get more information to investigate? Meanwhile you can also look for more information in the event logs. marvin_r To clarify the package integrity option does a light weight check against the trust level ACE to detect tampering of files. Due to I/O and performance we do not do a full rescan of the blockmap. That being said it would not detect deletes. We are adding some full blockmap validation that can be forced in the next version of Windows to help address this. This is a similar experience in the Microsoft Store workflows. brasmusson If there is a specific feature you are looking please add it to the ideas section. We do our best to update as feature are being built and available to insider builds. http://aka.ms/msix-ideas John Vintzel (@jvintzel) PM Lead, MSIX6KViews1like0CommentsRe: Downgrade MSIX app setting
Kragunath Version downgrade is supported on Windows 10 2004. The functionality to let a user double-click and downgrade an app was added through an app update. Make sure you have the latest version of the Desktop App Installer app for this experience. I believe the latest version is: 1.0.32912.0 You can verify from PowerShell by running this command: Get-AppPackage Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller John Vintzel (@jvintzel) PM Lead, MSIX1.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Pre-Install checks
rkamarowski It depends on the deployment. If it is automated we check if there is a version and if the installed version is newer, we stop deployment (although you can force override this in 1809). If there is an older version we always install and bring the users forward. In an automated case if you wanted to pin to a version we would recommend using the rules in the system management tool. For click to install, we inform the user of the what is installed and they get the decision to install, update, or downgrade as appropriate.
