Re: Exchange Server 2019 HA & DR - Design
Hello Dan, Thanks for your reply with advice and information. I have attached a screenshot of the dag design where i have 6 servers (3 in each subnet). To begin i will only keep 2 servers in each site because i can avoid Witness Server. You were right about true HA and in our scenario we don't have that one. We have 3 offices and each office has a separate subnet. If I keep witness server in third office, the problem is, it has connection in only one main office and not the second office where I want to keep second set of dag servers for DR. so to avoid witness i will keep even number of nodes in both these offices and they are connected by dark fibre. The rest I will use single URL in all nodes and if you have any pointers to test main scenarios before migration I would appreciate it.24Views0likes1CommentExchange Server 2019 HA & DR - Design
Hello Team, I'm asked to setup a HA & DR of Exchange Server 2019 (In-House) with only Internal Clients connecting to it. There will be no Internet or external access. There are 2 Sites, A & B connected by Dark Fibre of 10G and though users are around 3000 but their usage is very minimum as it is only for internal purposes. They are keen to have HA & DR and in current setup I had setup HA with 3 servers. I was reading about cross-site DAG and need little assistance in setting up the same. I need to design HA & DR so that if there is a site failure then automatically the DR should continue the work. I thought Active-Active would be best because if anyone of the site fails, say Site A fails, the 40-50% of the users who would have their mailboxes on them would move to Site B. 1. Is it best to setup Active-Active or Active-Passive, benefits, safety, Administrator's Tasks in failover scenario? 2. Is it better to keep even nodes on each side with Witness Server (for Site A - Witness Server will be on B) & Alternate Witness Server ? If anyone has a sample design document with key configuration to keep in mind, if you can share it, please let me know,87Views0likes3CommentsExchange 2016 User Mailboxes Migrated to Exchange 2019 | IMAP | SMTP Permission
We have migrated from Exchange 2016 to Exchange 2019 Servers. Exchange 2016 servers have been shutdown now. When I initially setup a new servers, i created a new user and mailbox for each server. Problem: When we configure IMAP Profile in Thunderbird client (windows/Linux) the below happens: 1) new users on new servers - works fine 2) old users who were migrated from 2016 - the issue pops up when sending the email. receiving works fine. The error message is as shown517Views0likes1CommentIMAP | OAUTH2.0 | Thunderbird Email Configuration |
Hello Team, I have 2 separate standalone forests without INTERNET, in which Exchange Server 2016 CU22 , & Exchange Server 2019 CU11 is running independently on On-Premise servers. This question is not about 2 forests or their configuration. The users are separate and I don't need anything between them. 1. I was recently asked to configure Thunderbird Email Client (latest one) and it was not working. Emails were receiving but unable to send emails. It keeps giving message to either login or certificate warning. 2. I started testing and re-configuring IMAP Services. Now IMAP Profiles are successfully configured in Outlook Client but not on Thunderbird. Test-IMAPConnectivity works fine. 3. Also, thunderbird client is not able to auto-configure or search for the configuration. Autodiscover Service is configured correctly. 4. I noticed that, I have configured Set-ClientAccessService -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri correctly whereas I have left Set-AutoDiscoverVirtualDirectory -InternalURL to Null. Is this Correct? I searched for many articles for virtual directory configuration but they don't configure AutoDiscoverVirtualDirectory Am I missing something here. 5. Is there any SMTP Auth that I need to configure? 6. I was reading about OAUTH2.0. Do I need to configure anything in this regard? I'm not planning on upgrading the infrastructure for next couple of months as it is not needed urgently by business. 5. Is there a way or offline tool to test for Exchange Certificates, TLSCert etc? I reconfigured Microsoft Exchange Server Auth Cert because it was not appearing in Get-AuthConfig... There is a strong reason why it has no internet, so please don't ask me to upload logs. Please share the commands and scripts, I will proceed from there. LATEST UPDATE: I came across this URL https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/authenticated-client-smtp-submission and understood that I might I have to enable SMTP Auth at Organizational or Mailbox Level. The sad part is I was not able to find the settings in both servers. I don't get any option listed as "SmtpClientAuthenticaionDisabled". Is this command not available in my version of exchange. Thanks in advance Najeeb1.9KViews0likes0CommentsExchange Server 2019 | OWA Push Notifications
Hello Team, In my company, all the users heavily rely on OWA to access emails and they want an a desktop notification or alert when there is a new email. I was just browsing on how email works or what exactly happens when there is a new email in outbox. I already got my in-house app developer team to write some similar code using EWS and it runs every 2 minutes and scans every new email and shows the alert on the sharepoint web page. I felt this is cumbersome & causing heavy load on my server because to scan all 4000 or more mailboxes is an intensive process. Just then I came across the threads and was happy thinking that since we migrated from Ex2016 to Ex2019, we can enable Notifications. I'm not not to see that option when I open a user mailbox on Ex2019 and look for under Options. If anyone has deployed this, please share the steps or pointer. our setup description: Since we have only on-Premise Exchange Server 2019 with no internet connectivity to outside world, can we setup Push Notifications for user. REF URL: I don't see the option they are discussing in the below URL. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/owa-web-push-notifications-b1351480-3520-42b3-ae33-022494fd83ee https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/client-developer/exchange-web-services/notification-subscriptions-mailbox-events-and-ews-in-exchange https://www.codeproject.com/Articles/73834/EWS-Mail-Notifier#/KB/exchange/ewsconsolenotify.aspx#_comments https://www.codeproject.com/Articles/21164/Exchange-2007-Push-Notifications-Using-WCF https://help.ivanti.com/mi/help/en_us/EML/3.18.0/gdi/EmailPlusiOSGuide/Before_you_configure_rea.htm https://help.ivanti.com/mi/help/en_us/EML/3.18.0/gdi/EmailPlusiOSGuide/Before_you_configure_rea.htm1.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: New Installation of Exchange 2016 CU22 fails at step 9
Hello Dan, Since you gave the pointer, I opened PowerShellas an administrator, 1. Imported ActiveDirectory module & Exchange SnapIn 2. ran Get-AdServerSettings | fl the output had no values, 3. Using the Set-AdServerSettings I set preferred Global Catalog, ConfigurationDomainController, PreferredGlobalCatalog, RecipientViewRoot Restarted the server and then tried installing Exchange 2016 CU22, it gave the message that incomplete installation is detected and started once again but failed again. Can I delete the server from ADSI Edit manually, reformat the partition (D:\) where I was trying to install Exchange, and then try. The old entries in my registry will it affect? I'm not able to uninstall easily also.2.6KViews0likes1CommentNew Installation of Exchange 2016 CU22 fails at step 9
Hello Team, Some Years back, some admin had installed on Exchange 2013 Server and later the desktop's hard drives failed and we lost server. Now again, there was a need for exchange server and I was initially getting the error for Exchange 2013 version. Using ADSIEdit tool I deleted the server, and tried to install Exchange 2016 CU22. I failed again pointing errors for system mailboxes, then I deleted the system mailboxes, federated mailbox & discovery search mailboxes. Re-Prepared all the 3 switches for Schema, AD & AllDomains. Restarted the server and tried the error and it still failed, but this time at step 9. rror: The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); start-SetupService -ServiceName MSExchangeMailboxAssistants " was run: "Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.ServiceDisabledException: Service 'MSExchangeADTopology' is disabled on this server. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot start service MSExchangeADTopology on computer '.'. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController.Start(String[] args) at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.ManageSetupService.StartServiceWorker(ServiceController serviceController, String[] serviceParameters) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.ThrowError(Exception exception, ErrorCategory errorCategory, Object target, String helpUrl) at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.ManageSetupService.StartService(ServiceController serviceController, Boolean ignoreServiceStartTimeout, Boolean failIfServiceNotInstalled, Unlimited`1 maximumWaitTime, String[] serviceParameters) at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.ManageSetupService.StartService(ServiceController serviceController, Boolean ignoreServiceStartTimeout, Boolean failIfServiceNotInstalled, Unlimited`1 maximumWaitTime, String[] serviceParameters) at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.ManageSetupService.StartService(String serviceName, Boolean ignoreServiceStartTimeout, Boolean failIfServiceNotInstalled, Unlimited`1 maximumWaitTime, String[] serviceParameters) at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.StartSetupService.InternalProcessRecord() at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.<ProcessRecord>b__91_1() at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.InvokeRetryableFunc(String funcName, Action func, Boolean terminatePipelineIfFailed)".2.8KViews0likes3CommentsSkype for Business Server 2019 Troubleshootin
I've recently upgraded from Lync Server 2013 to Skype for Business Server 2019 and moved all the users to the new pool. A few users complained that they face issues while having an audio/video conference call and when they share the document via desktop sharing,it takes time to load it on other people's screen. I've setup monitoring and currently working on deploying Call Quality Dashboard (CQD). I will setup very soon. To begin troubleshooting and narrow down the issue to Network, Client Machine or Server Configuration I need some tips where to begin and pinpoint. I was not able to copy paste my entire question... please refer screenshot attached.661Views0likes0CommentsMigration from Lync 2013 to SFB Server 2019
Team, Ourexisting setup was,Lync Server 2013 Enterprise Edition Pool ( 2 Front End servers in LyncPool, 2 Backend SQL Mirroring with SQL Witness Server and an OWA Server. Basic usage and no Internet in Network. Purely Internal Use only. Hence, Migration to SFB 2019 was chosen over Microsoft Teams. New setup, 6 Servers - 3 Front End Servers in SkypePool, 2 SQL Servers with Availability Group Listener, 1 Office Online Server. 1. Prepared Office Online Server 2. Completed initial Prerequisites like DNS, Server Prerequisites, Install Administrative Tools 3. On SFB 2019 FE Server, downloaded Existing Topology and add the Enterprise Edition pool of SFB 2019. Published successfully 4. Created Databases Manually because install-csdatabase failed, Setup SQL Availability Group and re-published topology successfully. 5. executed sql failover and republished topology with new server so that those security logins get permissions in second server. 6. Installed Front end role on all 3 servers successfully 7. Created a new user on SFB 2019 and tested. Later migrated one old user from Lync 2013 to SFB 2019 and tested. Login works correctly. Now my queries, please help. 1. I'm unable to change CMS Server in Topology because it is greyed out and gives a message saying after installing you can change through Operations. confused here. 2. what should be my next step? shall I migrate all users to new pool or change CMS and make new URL's active? I'm lost at next action items. I need directions in doing smooth transition and removing legacy servers safely.1.3KViews0likes0Comments
