Re: How to set the ozone platform hint flag
This appears to be a years-old and still unfixed Chromium issue, but fortunately there is a workaround: All Web Apps Starting in Single Window · Issue #486 · flathub/com.microsoft.Edge Quoting from the author, Evan Anderson: This is a known issue. Chromium uses a different WM class name when using Wayland. Instead of crx__appid, it uses execname-_appid-profileid. The workaround is to edit StartupWMClass in the application desktop files ~/.local/share/applications to read msedge-_appid-Default (assuming no second profile), where appid is the identifier that comes after crx__.879Views0likes0CommentsRegressions for installing apps via Edge
Installing apps via Edge doesn't seem to work quite as it used to anymore and has regressed in a few ways: When an app is installed, there are two entries for it in the list of installed apps inside the Windows Settings app: One with the website's name as publisher and one with "Microsoft\Edge Beta". There used to be only one entry, and this is what the user would expect. There is no "pin to start" button in edge://apps. In Task Manager, the installed app is not displayed on the top level (showing "PwaHelper executable for Identity Proxy" when expanding the entry) - instead, it can only be seen as a tab under the Microsoft Edge entry. It does not matter whether the app is a true PWA (installed through the address bar) or installed through the ... menu. This screenshot shows the two entries in the installed apps list: This screenshot shows how the "pin to start" button is missing for the Google Maps PWA and Discord pseudo-app, which have been installed after the regression, while Netflix was installed prior. If I might venture a guess, I'd say that Edge somehow fails at recognizing that I'm using Windows 10 or later, and falls back to the Windows 8.1 and prior method of installing apps, which does not set up an app identity (needed e.g. for the entry in Task Manager). Does this happen to anyone else? I'm using Edge Beta, currently on version 99.0.1150.16.1.7KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Introducing Buy now, pay later in Microsoft Edge
You're starting to overdo these third-party integrations and services. This is just sleazy, Edge is on the verge of feeling dirty to use. Edge is not just any random browser, it's the (increasingly hard to change) default of the most important desktop OS in the world. That comes not just with benefits, but with responsibilities towards your users as well. This isn't the way. Don't ruin a great browser by taking these unnecessary cash grabs too far. Stop it before Edge becomes known for being adware trash.20KViews15likes0CommentsRe: On version 20H2, the File Explorer on the taskbar often shows an active window with an Edge tab
Well, that sucks, I've never even had this appear without virtual desktops either. I can't say I'm shocked, unfortunately. Fingers crossed they'll still fix this in time for 21H2 but not holding my breath.4.2KViews0likes0CommentsRe: On version 20H2, the File Explorer on the taskbar often shows an active window with an Edge tab
Matman Well, I thought so, since the changelog for build 21277 says the following: We fixed an issue that could result in Microsoft Edge windows unexpectedly being grouped with File Explorer in the taskbar.4.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Join the Edge Insiders panel to partner with Microsoft!
While this seems like a good idea, I'd like to call you out on claiming that only an email is required to join. This is NOT the case, and in fact you need to provide your full name, age, full address (!), phone number (!) and signature to complete the waiver form. I'm not saying that must be deal-breaker to anyone, but the process is not as low-friction as you make it sound here.6.1KViews2likes2CommentsRe: Seit Android 11 hoher Akkuverbrauch
