Re: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
Saddly, I installed an update (KB5010386) that Microsoft proudly said to address performance issues, I can advise that on older PC (with SSD, 8GB ram etc) didn't make any difference. Working on OneDrive files is a pain, have this main issue haven't been addressed.11KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
Yes, they are. Windows 11 update shall be paused. For business, it's causing major issues. The fixes have been working, then not been needed as MS fix that, and with another Windows/OneDrive update is back again. I stick with Files (https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/files-modern-file-manager/9nghp3dx8hdx?activetab=pivot:overviewtab) for now, despite that is performance is not the best, but better than when struggling with OneDrive in File Explorer.6.5KViews0likes10CommentsRe: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
Contact Microsoft and raise a support ticket. They messing with Windows updates and OneDrive updated. Some updates will fix the issue and further, they revert it and is not working again. My current advice, on any production computer is to do not update to Windows 11.8KViews3likes2CommentsRe: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
The problem has been quietly solved by Microsoft somewhere between updating Windows to Build 22000.828 along with OneDrive 21.220.1024.0005. I have been testing since Monday, and the script to shutdown OneDrive (if you got it in 21.220.1024.0005) on startup is no longer needed. 2x Registry changes however make work with File Explorer much quicker (independently of OneDrive issue) on older machines.9.4KViews1like2CommentsRe: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
Remember that this is a work-around. You need to implement 2 registry changes and autostart (shutdown) procedures at start-up, and there is no guarantee that this will work for everybody. Some users report that is working, others do not. There are many other factors that can cause it. Pressure Microsoft to issue fix, I doubt they read the forum here, despite it's theirs.9.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
The solution described here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-11/onedrive-issues-on-windows-11/m-p/2914024/highlight/true#M1113) worked for me (turning off OneDrive and turning back on the first run), however, there are other factors that may take to consideration. For example hard drive. If you don't have SSD drive, then time to upgrade. Also worth restoring the old view of File Explorer known from Windows 10 (1) and the old layout of the context menu (2) which will improve speed altogether. The method (1) and (2) I described on my blog (in Polish): https://dariusz.wieckiewicz.org/windows-11-dzien-po-dniu/ You can translate the page or just download two registry files that need to be run to add changes. Then reboot the computer and see if that help. - https://dariusz.wieckiewicz.org/pobierz/file_explorer_old_behaviour.reg.7z - https://dariusz.wieckiewicz.org/pobierz/file_explorer_right_click.reg.7z Assume that you add Automation to shutdown OneDrive on start into Startu-up folder?14KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
Hope Microsoft will sort this out quickly, but don't hold your breath for that. I just dropped small .bat file into Start-up folder "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" folder that will shutdown and turn back on OneDrive just after logging in into system. Call it as you want, for example onedrive-temp-fix.bat with following content: @echo off "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe" /shutdown start "" "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe"15KViews1like4CommentsRe: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
Johnc22 Its nothing to do with iCloud. I don't have iCloud on mine (just Google Drive additionally to OneDrive) and got this issue. As I looked, Microsoft is aware of it and the fix has been published to Insiders. Shame that they do not prioritise it and push it to the public ASAP.15KViews0likes6CommentsRe: Onedrive issues on Windows 11
I am testing W11 before my company will move into it and the issue with OneDrive is annoying. None of the solutions here solving it. The annoyed think is, if you click on anything on one drive your cursor skiping for like 30 seconds between coursor and spinning wheel (for like 1sec in between). Not possible to work like that.90KViews0likes0Comments
