Re: How to enable DHCP on Hyper-V switch
Hi, can you please provide more details on the environment, like, which NICs you have? Win client or server? Which version? It seems to me based on the high-level information you provided that the existing NIC is associated to a NIC that has a DHCP server available and the switch is just passing the DHCP request/assign. Hyper-V doesn't have a default DHCP server/service available, so your best option would be to either use static IP (as you did) or spin up a DHCP server on that virtual network for that Switch.47KViews0likes0CommentsRe: [server 20303] Issues running containers
The version issue is not related to docker and Windows, but to the container host version and the container image. First, see that Windows container hosts can only run Windows images. Also, the host and container image versions must match. See more details at: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/windowscontainers/deploy-containers/version-compatibility?tabs=windows-server-20H2%2Cwindows-10-20H2 As for the hyper-v isolation, since you're using a VM, you'll need to enable nested virtualization on that VM so the container can run with hypervisor isolation. myalo While we don't have a version/edition dedicated to Developers, if you have MSDN/Visual Studio Subscription, you have Windows Server available as a member download. Another option is to use the an Azure free trial account: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/ Regards, V vrapolinario24KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Not sure what Windows Server license I should use
Hi chris_acfs-1 Windows Server 2019 Essentials comes with the CALs included so you don't have to worry about that. Your only concern should be in the case you go over 25 users/50 devices - then you'd need to upgrade to Standard. In addition, if your goal is to manage endpoints, you should also look into Microsoft Intune: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/enterprise-mobility-security/microsoft-intune Regards, Vinicius729Views0likes0CommentsRe: LCOW guide for windows server 2019
null null LCOW requires Hyper-v isolation. You can check more info here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/windowscontainers/deploy-containers/linux-containers Basically, you have to add --isolation=hyperv in the docker run command. Hi Trent, Yes! You can actually sign up to the Windows Insiders program using your Microsoft Account: https://insider.windows.com/. You can have access to the Windows Server preview builds on the Insiders program as well. Keep an eye on the Windows Server blog as we'll be covering what's new for Security in the next release of the Semi-annual Channel. :) Thanks for your question!1.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Using Windows Update for latest builds of Windows for lightweight version of server core
Hi Lucas, Hyper-V Server is not part of the Semi-annual channel release cycle so you would not be able to get the new features. Only Server Core (as the installation option) and Nano Server (as a Container image) are available on the Semi-annual Channel release cycle. Thanks for asking this question!2.9KViews3likes0CommentsWelcome to the Windows Server Insiders Tech Community!
