Re: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Windows 11 ?
xseryoga Hi, I am also an ExplorerPatcher user but be cautious, before every Windows major update, remember to update ExplorerPatcher first (right the taskbar, select Properties, you will see update), otherwise it may result in the menu disappearing.6.7KViews0likes2CommentsRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Come on people, the fault is not ours, Lets not fight here please... I also use ExplorerPatcher which is a free 3rd party solution, I am afraid that I will continue to use it after October update. But it is risky because, after every Win11 update, it has the risk of messing up menu. I try to update it before windows updates.3.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Windows 11 ?
Reza_Ameri Yes, indeed the taskbar ungrouping is scheduled to be ready for 23H2 update, expected to be released in this fall. https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/windows-11-version-23h2-new-features-release-date-changelog-2023-update#section-taskbar-ungrouping11KViews1like0CommentsRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Yes, updating Explorer Patcher before Win11 update is needed. But if one encounters a problem, other than your solution, this is another way for uninstalling Explorer Patcher; I ) Ctrl-alt-delete--> Task manager --> (Upper right corner) Run new task >> write "cmd" and select "Administrative privileges" ii) In the opened command prompt, type "cd C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher" iii) then uninstall it from its folder using "C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher setup.exe \uninstall"12KViews0likes1CommentRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Thanks for the warning. I update "explorer pathcher" before installing big Windows updates (right-click on a free space of the taskbar, Properties-->Updates). I have updated it, let's see what happens Update: No problem, just update "explorer pathcher" before Windows update (right-click on a free space of the taskbar, Properties-->Updates)12KViews0likes3CommentsRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. claysthename Hi, Unfortunately this problem persists not also in Windows 11 but also in Linux Gnome desktop environment. Only reason I can think for this grouping of icons is to enforce the use of touchpad more effectively. I can not understand any other reason than this. By the way, I also use the "explorer pathcher", but these touchpad gestures may be helpful, Three-finger gestures on the touchpad seem to be a temporary solution. Specifically, Swipe three fingers up --> Show thumbnails of your currently running apps in Task View Swipe three fingers down --> Show the desktop Swipe three fingers either left or right --> Switch between your open apps Swipe four fingers either left or right --> Switch between virtual desktops7.7KViews1like1CommentRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. RyanNE021 Hi, From task manager, on the above you will see "Run new Task", in the opening window, write "cmd" and select the box "Create this task with administrative privileges". Then go to the ExplorerParcher folder >cd "c:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher" Run >ep_setup.exe \uninstall8.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Windows 11 ?
hoanglongson Good news people. There are rumors that "Microsoft plans to bring back the "never combine" option for the Taskbar to ungroup apps and show labels again." https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-might-soon-let-windows-11-users-show-labels-and-ungroup-apps-on-taskbar/8.2KViews3likes5CommentsRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Single icon Lol :))) Actually grouping icons is default also in Gnome desktop environment in Linux. I was using KDE desktop which had options for both grouping and ungrouping icons in the taskbar. A lot of people say Windows copies KDE in some ways, I hope that they copy giving an option for grouping as KDE does in Linux ..5.7KViews1like0CommentsRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Today, after the latest Windows 11 update ExplorerPatcher caused problems.. I had to run command prompt, and uninstall it from its folder using "C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher setup.exe \uninstall" We really need a Windows solution to this..7.1KViews0likes6CommentsRe: How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. So far I have not encountered problems. And as we all know, having ungrouped labelled icons is wonderful. After updates, it reinstalls some icons as I notice. I don't pay too much attention to start menu configuration, I use windows button and search by typing the software name. Start 11 also seems to be good solution.8.5KViews0likes8Comments
