Re: Office security baseline breaks excel feature: "analysis toolpak"
Found it: The baseline setting below prevents the data tab -> data analysis/solver menu items from appearing. Microsoft Office 2016 -> Security Settings -> Disable UI extending from documents and templates -> "Disallow in Excel = True" Changing "Disallow in Excel = False" allows the menu item to appear normally. This should be listed as a known issue on the office security baseline as long as this setting is included.1.6KViews2likes0CommentsOffice security baseline breaks excel feature: "analysis toolpak"
Hi team, I have found that the Office security baseline (Intune v2306) breaks an excel feature: analysis toolpak add-in (the data analysis menu item does not load). There was a known issue note on the v2206 office baseline that stated the setting "Prevent Excel from running XLM macros" broke analysis toolpak and referred to a workaround: https://support.microsoft.com/office/06cd719c-1e9b-4624-815b-c377ad5ca236 But, I have tested removing/disabling the "Prevent Excel from running XLM macros" from the baseline and the issue persists. I also tested deploying/enabling only the "Prevent Excel from running XLM macros" and it doesn't cause the feature to stop working. I've come to the conclusion that "Prevent Excel from running XLM macros" is no longer a relevant setting (and the workaround is no longer accurate). I've tested a dozen settings from excel trust center without success in finding the offending setting. The "analysis toolpak" doesn't show in the trust center logging. 1. It looks like this needs to be a known issue for the office baseline again, 2. Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot the issue (short of working through each setting in the baseline)?2.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: restricting Edge extensions disables the Discover App.

Using beta 112.0.1722.39 (also release build), I have found that restricting Edge extensions disables the Discover App. (and that there is little to no documentation on this) We have the Intune Edge security baseline applied, which sets 'Control which extensions cannot be installed' to * (all) and requires admins to whitelist desired extensions. When 'Control which extensions cannot be installed' is set, the "show discover setting" is disabled with a suitcase icon next to it indicating corporate policy. note that "show discover" being disabled is even with HubsSidebarEnabled set to true. When 'Control which extensions cannot be installed' is not configured, the "show discover" setting works normally. Does anyone know of a way to restrict extensions and allow the Discover app to work? like whitelisting it as an allowed extension? What is the best way to prompt ms to enhance the documentation on this apparent interdependency?5.4KViews1like1Comment
