Re: AD Sysvol Staging / Staging area folders missing after migrated FRS to DFRS
Yes, this problem is shown when FRS is migrated to DFRS. This thing is reproducable 100%, so it would be very nice for MS to mention is it a bug or is it a feature by design. I'm not happy that nothing is mentioned in the docs regarding this:( There is only one thing mentioned - that staging folders will not be copied to the new location.2.8KViews1like1CommentRe: AD Sysvol Staging / Staging area folders missing after migrated FRS to DFRS
Hi, Problem is that at least I want to know - is it a bug or is it expected thing. Docs say nothing about that. And I'm nostly unhappy to see that staging is CONFIGURED when new domain installed from scratch or on newly introduced DCs, but when migration is done - its not on the old DCs:/ I fixed this by installing new DCs where staging was configured and by demoting old ones. But still, I want to see few rows in docs regarding this as I can reproduce this thing every time I do this thing.2.9KViews0likes3CommentsRe: AD Sysvol Staging / Staging area folders missing after migrated FRS to DFRS
Stangest thing is that freshly prepared 2022 domain and domain controllers and even added new DCs into the same domain which had FRS to DFRS migrated, HAVE staging folders configured so it would be very interesting to know - is it a bug from MS side or thing by design.3.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: AD Sysvol Staging / Staging area folders missing after migrated FRS to DFRS
Yes, you are completely right and this is my solution too and I'm glad that it is quite easy to fix this problem. But lets imagine that I need to only upgrade FRS to DFSR. Whats then? To live without staging, to create it by myself? I'm angry that MS didn't mention anything about that, only that staging folders are not copied to new sysvol. And yes, staging folders are not replicated, only domain folder.3.4KViews0likes2CommentsRe: AD Sysvol Staging / Staging area folders missing after migrated FRS to DFRS
I have the same question as I'm doing migration right now. From what I can see in MS docs, such thing is by design because docs are saying that in prepared state only two folders are copied into SYSVOL_DFSR folder. I suspect that I need manualy create staging area. But I can't find such thing in the docs.3.5KViews0likes4Comments
