Collaboration in MS Project
I work for a small but growing manufacturing company that uses MS Project Professional to manage a few hundred "micro-projects" that all compete for resources, etc., at any one time. All the micro-projects are managed in one project file. As the company grows and matures, we are seeing a need to have 3-4 people actively working in the Project file at any one time, as well as an additional 5-6 internal customers that need read-only access to the project data. Is there a collaboration option in MS Project Professional? I don't think so, but would be very happy to be corrected. If not, what are the recommended MS Project versions to allow this level of collaboration? Are the third-party add-ons that can solve this problem? If so, which are recommended? Hi All! my first post of many to come! I'm interested in hearing any best practices of how to add planned slack to a project. I manage a portfolio of about 300 mini-projects for a manufacturing company. Inevitably, each project slides a bit due to people missing work, miscalculating the amount of effort needed, etc. Since we are striving to give customers an accurate eta that they can count on for their projects (our company is a component provider to aerospace), it's frustrating to all when we keep updating our ship date, often a day after we sent them the last update. 😞 Currently I add a task called "planned slack" for 3-5d at the end of each mini-project, then either we ship early 🙂 or we eat into that slack to make the eta we committed to. Any better practices out there? Thank you!Solved1.2KViews0likes2Comments
