Re: Alexa is no longer adding tasks to Microsoft To Do
Yup, amazon broke that niceness awhile back. we are back to using just amazon's list for now. we have a ton of smart devices controlled by alexa that work fine. once amazon drops them, we will actively move from that ecosystem to other platforms. Just a shame.15Views0likes1CommentRe: Alexa is no longer adding tasks to Microsoft To Do
https://developer.amazon.com/en-US/docs/alexa/list-skills/list-skills-overview.html#:~:text=Warning%3A%20Starting%20July%201%2C%202024,to%20Build%20a%20Custom%20Skill. This seems to imply the skills connected to amazon's Lists will cease 7/1. Mine seemed to stop working already, so we basically are just going to use alexa list and cease using todo. We were only really using it for lists, anyway. I am just not interested in wrestling with this part of the tech anymore..1.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Alexa and To Do not syncing
Steve Achelis looks like it has already stopped working for us. at this point i am done fiddling with it; we use it for a shared shopping list and will just use the alexa list. i'll archive anything nostalgic and move on and maybe check out anylist. Thanks for th eheads up, i appreciate that!521Views1like0CommentsRe: Alexa and To Do not syncing
Same here. Just a one-way feed from amazon shopping ==>ms todo. it works 'good enough' to get things into the list. the important thing for my wife and I is that it is a shared list, so either can add. also, if we don't have a good internet connection in the stores, as we delete things off of the ms todo list, they don't necessarily get deleted from the amazon list. this builds up over time, and i start getting 'already have it on the list' messages. So, I have to go in every few weeks and manually check-off items in the Amazon list, to get it cleaned out. Not the best of solutions, but works for our VERY limited requirements/needs.1.7KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Alexa and To Do not syncing
DragonKing87, I certainly understand that. I think the industry is at an interesting cross-roads. We need all of these vendors to interact with one another, and we will not be compromising. In my opinion, MS should be working to make all of these IoT devices that take verbal commands, integrate with their products. I moved over from Wunderlist to MS To Do because MS did a good job with the transition. BUT, all these apps have to integrate with voice, not the other way around. I believe that Wonder Do It has been open sourced, maybe MS will pick it up?3.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Alexa and To Do not syncing
Well, I think I have my short/long term solution....not the best, but will work for us. I am back to an app call OurGroceries It is a very good, shareable, grocery list app and has a skill for Alexa. It is working, for now. Looks like I will deprecate the MS To Do from my daily use.5.5KViews0likes11CommentsRe: Alexa and To Do not syncing
Yeah, we came over from Wunderlist. I was using it from the beginning. I think at this point I will start to research other To Do lists and Alexa integration. For my needs, all I am looking for is shared shopping list+Aexa voice integration. My 60 year old brain is at the point that I need to shout at the house immediately when we are out of something, else it ends up as a lost thought! lol I certainly understand that I get what I pay for, so I am accustomed to my favorite google apps getting deprecated; but I will say that I have spent a TON of money on the Amazon ecosystem, and for that, I really do expect Amazon to protect their interest in me. If anyone has a good success story of a multi-platform (Linux/Mac/Win) To Do client that takes input from Alexa, I would love to hear about them. Thanks! From the developer of Tasks In The Hand: "Hi Mike, Thanks for your email. It looks like there has been a change in the Alexa Skills Kit and the task was temporarily disabled. I’ve submitted it for certification again using the latest SDK so I hope it should become available again in the next few days. If you already have the skill installed it should continue to work. Kind regards, Peter" ----------------------------------------- I am interpreting this to mean that you might see it in the available skills over the next few days27KViews1like0CommentsRe: Alexa and To Do not syncing
EMAIL FROM PETER FOOT, DEVELOPER OF TASKS IN THE HAND Hi Mike, Thanks for your email. It looks like there has been a change in the Alexa Skills Kit and the task was temporarily disabled. I’ve submitted it for certification again using the latest SDK so I hope it should become available again in the next few days. If you already have the skill installed it should continue to work. I am sending you this email to let you know that the old Wonder Do It skill some folks were using with Alexa/MS To DO no longer works, and someone found your excellent work. I have included the latest email thread and links below, if this is of interest to you. Thanks again and have a great day! Gotcha, thanks for the deeper dive. The skill Tasks in the Hand is working for us. It is a bit different from the Wonder Do It skill, but is working. I am no coder/scripter....just an old retired IT Ops guy. We came over from Wunderlist when MS bought them, and have been happy with MS To Do, but this sort of integration is whatmakes these gadgets shine. I hope someone with the right chops picks this up! -Mike patrickb7827KViews0likes3Comments
