Add the ability to queue up a print job and release it once you've walked to a printer via smartphone app or key fob if the printer supports it.

To ensure security, users typically authenticate themselves either through a smartphone app or a key fob. The authentication process verifies the user's identity and authorizes access to the print job release function.

Updates:

  • Secure release for is now available. The release is done through the Microsoft 365 mobile app. Currently, the Android version is available and the iOS version will be available soon.
  • Pull print (AKA follow me print, print anywhere, find me print, and many other names), which is the ability to print to a virtual queue and release from one of many physical printers, is still in progress.

Yes, but this is more for the print Hardware/multifunction device itself, and a lot of Support such functions as standard with the "normal" Drivers. (like secure print with PIN release at the device).

another needed function is the intergration to "real" print Cc checker   Management solution directly, a lot of These Solutions make nois at the market that they Support universal print, but nobody say at the Moment "how", because i think only install the Cloud print connector on the print Management Server, and "push" the Printer to the Cloud, is not a real Cloud print.

hi to all, @hatchhozzen007 ,

you are right most intergration to MS universal print need still the on-prem servers...

but there are a hand full of of real cloud print/services platforms in the market, they use directly the Microsoft Graph API to connect to MS Uniprint. with this you can extedn the MS Uniprint with a secure/followMe Printing and not just a release via QR code or PIN...

Please let me know, if you need more insights...

Great suggestion! Queueing print jobs for release via a smartphone app or key fob at the printer is a convenient feature that can significantly improve efficiency. This could streamline the printing process and ensure that documents are ready when you arrive. Your idea aligns with the evolving needs of modern workplaces, promoting a more seamless and user-friendly experience Golden Visa UAE.

The idea of queuing up print jobs and releasing them via a smartphone app or key fob upon reaching the printer is brilliant! It could streamline the   printing process. However, it's crucial to ensure the security of such a system to protect sensitive information. Security measures should be a top priority in implementing this convenient feature.

It seems basic secure release via QR code + M365 app has been implemented now and from testing it seems to work as expected (although I see other feature requests related making that per user or per job rather than per printer).

Unfortunately, "Follow Me" printing is still missing. Perhaps you would create a virtual queue in UP portal and assign multiple physical printers to it and then combine this with the QR code release side. This would mean you only need to push one queue to devices (via Intune or another method) and then jobs are sent to the printer based on the QR code (stretch goal would be support for card readers).

What a convenient idea! Queueing print jobs via smartphone or key fob for release at the printer would be a time-saving feature. Integration with supported printers would make this functionality even more seamless which can be copy and paste.

What a great idea! Secure and Follow Me Printing would definitely enhance convenience and efficiency in the workplace. Being able to queue up print jobs and release them via smartphone app or key fob would streamline the printing process. Looking forward to seeing this levy calculator feature implemented
