Surface Hub admins will need to acquire Teams Rooms licenses for Hub device. The requirement follows the announcement last September of new Teams Rooms Pro and Basic licenses, including changes to user subscription licenses for Teams Rooms deployments.
| UPDATE (June 20, 2023): You will receive a 90-day grace period through September 30, 2023. Any Teams Rooms device using a user license will be blocked from logging into their account until a valid Teams Rooms license is applied once the grace period expires. Depending on the device type, this could disrupt your Teams Rooms experience, including the ability to join meetings or make calls. The upshot for Surface Hub: If you still rely on user subscription licenses for the Hub Device account, you have until July 1 to procure and provision a Teams Rooms license. Otherwise, your Surface Hub will be blocked from signing in until a Teams Rooms license is assigned. The new licensing requirement does not affect users signing in to Surface Hub to access Microsoft 365 accounts or personal files.
