SQL 2019 Availability Group for master?
In earlier announcements of SQL Server 2019 a new feature was mentioned that allows to replicate system databases in an Availiability Group. Unfortunately I cannot find any further information - did this feature make it to the final product?
Example: https://redmondmag.com/articles/2018/12/03/sql-server-2019-at-pass-summit.aspx
Here it says: In SQL Server 2019, Microsoft is correcting this by addressing both Master and MSDB, which will simplify the administration of availability groups.
Any ideas?

- johnh5Copper ContributorI too have this question. According to the docs at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/availability-groups/windows/prereqs-restrictions-recommendations-always-on-availability?view=sql-server-ver15 , if you search for "system databases" the first item under checklist: requirements says... "Be a user database. System databases cannot belong to an availability group."
So which is it?- johnh5Copper ContributorI decided to contact the author of the magazine article and got a quick response. That feature had some challenges and did not make it into GA. He expects it in a CU at some point, but cannot say when.
So it appears we will have to wait a while longer. It would surely be a good reason for us to upgrade from 2017 right away instead of waiting.
