SQL 2019 Availability Group for master?

I too have this question. According to the docs at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/availability-groups/windows/prereqs-restrictions-recommendations-always-on-availability?view=sql-server-ver15 , if you search for "system databases" the first item under checklist: requirements says... "Be a user database. System databases cannot belong to an availability group."

- johnh5Jan 23, 2020Copper ContributorI decided to contact the author of the magazine article and got a quick response. That feature had some challenges and did not make it into GA. He expects it in a CU at some point, but cannot say when.
So it appears we will have to wait a while longer. It would surely be a good reason for us to upgrade from 2017 right away instead of waiting.
