Occasional Visitor

I am transitioning from OnPrem using ListView webparts with connected lists to SPO - I have played with the pnp listview control(s) but it seems like we are going backwards in the development effort -  just feel like I am missing something - To implement solutions with listviews there just seems to me a lot of coding or I will have to write a lot of libraries to reproduce the ease of displaying list data - Any help directing me to a quicker endpoint would be appreciated
