Changing list setting : "Opening Documents in the Browser" through CSOM/REST Apis

Hi, 

Is there a a way the Advanced setting under SP List settings : "Opening Documents in the Browser" can be changed using CSOM/REST Apis?

As far as I know there is no remote API provided to change this setting. You could consider automating configuration of this setting by using "HTTP Post Pattern" as described in the following blog:
