Here’s what’s new
Customers will notice a comprehensive set of enhancements and new features when using Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Here’s what users can expect:
Quickly find and act on the right plan
The new plan picker makes it easier than ever to find and select the right plan. Users can search and filter their basic plans by name, then interact with the agent to update a task’s name, status, due date, or priority. This feature helps streamline navigation and ensures that teams can quickly access and manage the plans that matter most, improving overall planning efficiency.

Organize work around key objectives
The new goals bucket enables teams to organize tasks around high-level objectives. This ensures that every task is directly tied to strategic priorities, making it easier to track progress and maintain focus on what matters most.

Edit and approve AI content
All AI-generated plans, tasks, and updates are now created in draft mode by default. This gives users the opportunity to review, edit, and approve changes before they are finalized, ensuring greater control and reducing the risk of unintended updates.

Get more relevant insights
With advanced agent reasoning, you get smarter task management and contextual understanding—offering deeper, more accurate analysis of plans and tasks. Based on the complexity of a user's request, the agent can autoroute to advanced reasoning models to interpret complex instructions and provide more relevant suggestions or a more detailed response. This advanced reasoning is especially evident when users ask the agent to create a plan from enterprise files, such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files.
Enjoy faster, more reliable performance
Planner Agent now intelligently matches its reasoning approach to the difficulty of each request, applying lightweight processing to simple tasks and deeper reasoning only when a request demands it—so you get quicker responses without sacrificing quality. We've also made meaningful improvements to the reliability of core operations like creating and updating tasks, plans, goals, and buckets, building on a stronger foundation for everyday planning.
In addition, interactive task cards now render more consistently as you create and update work. With stronger response controls, the agent stays within what it can reliably do—keeping functionality dependable and content quality high.
Keep progress on track
Beyond answering your question, Planner Agent suggests relevant follow-up actions tied to your request and its response — like editing a task, creating a related one, or refining a plan. These in-context suggestions make it easier to take the next step and keep work moving without breaking your flow.
Availability
Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 is now generally available to all users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, ensuring broad access across organizations and seamless integration with Teams, Loop, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps.
