Apr 21, 2023Secure your organization - and your customers
Dear Swiss Microsoft Partner
With Azure you can deliver scalability, cost savings, and the highest level of security. In today's digital landscape, security is a critical concern. The current rise in cyberattacks, combined with increasing digitization across all industries, means security remains one of the top challenges of our digital age. We are continuing to see sophisticated threats develop against both customer and partner accounts — leaving our customers vulnerable.
At Microsoft we understand the importance of security and are dedicated to supporting our partners in delivering secure solutions. However, it's important to note that securing your organization and your customers with Azure is not automatic. As a partner, you have a responsibility to take action - so we ask you to please secure your organization and your customers with the following recommendations:
- Microsoft offers partners access to security solutions that are both proactive and easy-to-use, all with the end goal of protecting you and your customers. We recently launched the new Securing the Channel webpage as a unified hub for these products and resources. Here you can find the security best practices playbook, which includes further guidance on steps for avoiding cyberattacks, where to go for training, and how to connect with additional resources.
- Below a summary of the key recommendations:
- We strongly recommend enforcing multifactor authentication (MFA) for all users in tenants for you and your customers, which is why we’ve included it among the Azure Active Directory security defaults.
- Add a security contact to your Partner Center account: Identify your organization’s security contact and consider setting this up as a distribution list.
- Be aware of potential cryptocurrency mining activities with Azure fraud detection and notification.
A reminder that as a partner in the Cloud Solution Provider program, you're responsible for your customer's Microsoft Azure consumption, this includes financial responsibility for fraudulent purchases by your customers and/or customers’ nonpayment of purchased services.
It’s important that you’re aware of any fraud or misuse in your customers’ Azure subscriptions. Awareness enables you to take immediate action to determine whether the behavior is legitimate or fraudulent and, if necessary, suspend the affected Azure resources or Azure subscription to mitigate the issue.
