Conversations on the File Card

Roadmap ID: 56183

Visibility of all file activities is key, and we are continuously working to make it as seamless as possible. Whenever you hover over a file in OneDrive and SharePoint you will be able to see a wealth of information about your files at a glance.  Last year we announced updates to File card introducing features like “Inside look” that will surface deeper information on a file like key points and time to read the file as well as “Activity highlights” that will show relevant activities related to the files you’re working on, like edits, comments, or @mentions.

We have now initiated rolling out an additional update to the file card- “Conversations”. Now, when you hover over files that have been shared in email, meeting invitations, or private Teams chats, you will be able to see those conversations in the file card and allow users to jump back to them.  Users' collaborate in many places and the file card will help you remember where that work took place.

Smart upload management

You can now automatically adjust sync client upload rate based on bandwidth availability. This setting enables OneDrive sync client to upload data in the background by only consuming unused bandwidth and not interfere with other applications using the network. This setting is powered by Windows LEDBAT protocol (Low Extra Delay Background Transport) that allows to transfer data in the background quickly, without clogging the network. When LEDBAT detects increased latency that indicates other TCP connections are consuming bandwidth, OneDrive sync client will reduce its own consumption to prevent interference. When the network latency decreases again and bandwidth gets freed up, OneDrive sync client will ramp up upload rate and consume the unused bandwidth.

Note: This setting is only available on devices running Windows 10 / Windows Server 2016 or later

Dark mode on Android

Roadmap ID: 61355

Last month we announced extending the Fluent design update to OneDrive for Android. Among other features , it also marked global rollout of Dark Mode on OneDrive for Android across business and personal accounts.

Apart from the aesthetic appeal, widely known perks of Dark Mode are that it reduces eye strain and improves battery life of the device aiding you with uninterrupted productivity while on the go.
