This monthly blog post will recognize our customers who have embarked on their journey to a modern workplace with OneDrive and Microsoft 365. We take pride in sharing the business successes and IT accomplishments of our customers and hope these inspiring stories and best practices across enterprise and SMB will help you in your endeavors as well.

Textron best known for its aviation brands—including Bell Helicopter, Cessna, and Beechcraft—also runs a network of defense, industrial, and finance businesses. Headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, the corporation has business units around the globe.

When Textron IT leaders reviewed the corporation’s cloud file storage and sharing options, they concluded that OneDrive would provide the improved governance, heightened security as well as  interoperability with Microsoft productivity tools they desired, at a drastically lower cost.

“A lot of what we do is data-driven. The more IT can bring to the table, working in partnership with our businesses to help answer the question of the day or help an engineer make better decisions faster, the more value we add.” says Leslie Rowland, Chief Architect at Textron. With OneDrive, Textron IT staff found it easier to control access and maintain visibility into access by external users. “It was time to offer staff a more cost-effective and manageable solution or face escalating costs,” says Cole Weatherson, Cloud Analyst at Textron.

For the team choosing the Microsoft FastTrack program to support the OneDrive deployment was an easy decision that would serve as a blueprint for future deployments .

With its varied business units, Textron addressed an enormous range of work styles and situations- from broad adoption of OneDrive mobile app by shop floor workers to pilots who download 100s of PDFs during test flights. Textron also capitalized on the benefits of internal and external collaboration with OneDrive helping their geographically dispersed workforce to be more productive.
