Gap Inc. is the parent company of much-loved casual clothing brands, from Gap to Athleta, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and more. Faced with the enormous challenge of selecting a toolkit to boost productivity and collaboration, plus simplify management, the company evaluated tools for every workplace need, from video calls to social collaboration. Gap Inc. chose a single solution—Microsoft Office 365—to provide all the functionality that a large multinational corporation needs..

The productivity of Gap Inc. had taken a hit from all the different solutions in use at a company where collaboration with both internal people and external contractors is vital. Not only that, it faced growing licensing costs. “We adopted Microsoft 365 because it is a fully integrated suite of tools that enhances collaboration anytime, anywhere, on any device,” says Benita Bankson, Senior Director of Employee Enablement at Gap Inc.

Even early on during the migration, many Gap Inc. departments found collaboration easier with OneDrive. “Several departments are teaming together much more effectively,” explains Lakshmi Prabha, Collaboration Solution Specialist at Gap Inc.

The productivity tool goals that Gap Inc. envisioned are taking off. “I use Files On-Demand to preserve my hard-drive space,” explains Executive Assistant Pia Kawano, who also served as a beta tester and advisor on the implementation team.

Erin Silk, Senior Manager of Global Supply Chain Strategy at Gap Inc. who was also a part of the early adopter program adds.“We appreciate the flexibility to set up data loss prevention policies in OneDrive so that confidential documents can’t be shared externally unless we see a warning. We have the convenience of easy cloud sharing, with built-in security.”
