Around the world, employees have overwhelmingly embraced remote work. Of those given a choice, 87 percent opted for at least three days of out of office. How can companies meet the needs of their employees while navigating macroeconomic uncertainty?
Today, we're announcing the general availability of Microsoft Tunnel for Mobile Application Management as part of the new Microsoft Intune Suite. This lightweight VPN solution allows workers to access on-premises resources from unenrolled personal mobile devices.
Microsoft Tunnel for Mobile Application Management (MAM) allows companies to embrace bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies instead of purchasing corporate devices for employees, saving critical funds during tough economic times. This also saves employees the trouble of carrying two devices.
Microsoft Tunnel for MAM ensures secure access to on-prem corporate data from Android and iOS devices. Without requiring device enrollment, the solution protects end-user privacy while enabling employees to work from their personal devices. This empowers employees to use their device of choice without compromising security.
Users can access on-premises resources from line-of-business apps or using Microsoft Edge. To protect user privacy, Edge only connects the VPN when employees sign in with an organizational account. When used in conjunction with Microsoft Intune App Protection Policies, IT and Security teams can help protect their organization's data. On Android, employees just need the Microsoft Defender app and the Company Portal app. On iOS, they need to integrate a software development kit (SDK) with line-of-business apps to add Microsoft Tunnel support.
Here's a demo showing how IT admins can add Tunnel for MAM support.
