Can't see Identities under the Asset Tab
Hi,
Currently just able to see devices under the Asset tab within the 365 defender portal - secuirty.microsoft.com.
Which role is needed in order to see Identities? Either a 365 Defender role or an AAD role...
Many thanks,
Tim
- Hi Tim,
Do you have licenses for Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MDA), formerly MCAS?
Thanks

In order to view identities in the Microsoft 365 Defender portal (security.microsoft.com), you would need to have an Azure Active Directory (AAD) role with the proper permissions.
The specific role you need would be either Global Administrator or Security Reader. The Global Administrator role has full access to all features and settings in Azure Active Directory, while the Security Reader role has the ability to view security information and alerts, but not make any changes.
To assign an AAD role to a user, you would need to log into the Azure Active Directory portal and navigate to the Users section. From there, you can select the user you want to assign a role to and edit their role assignments.

Hi, thanks for your reply. So it has to be an AAD role and not a 365 Defender role?
- georgeliaBrass ContributorI am having the same issue. Try https://security.microsoft.com/cloudapps/users-and-accounts and check if you can see the identities.
- georgeliaBrass ContributorI sort this out and without proper licensing for Defender for Cloud Apps, you will not be able to see the Identities tab and this is by-design behavior.
