Hi, Insiders! Halloween is just around the corner, and while you probably have your costume all picked out, there may still be a few more items on your to-do list. Whether you’re looking to win your neighborhood’s pumpkin decorating contest or wow party guests with an on-theme dessert, Microsoft Copilot has plenty of advice to dish out.

And if you’re still not sure how to dress for the occasion, check out our blog on Copilot prompts to generate costume ideas fast and on a budget.

Carve like a pro

Anyone can be a pumpkin carving artist with the right inspiration. Copilot can come up with ideas for beginners and experts alike that will impress trick-or-treaters and, if you’re entering your creation into a contest, help you blow the competition away.

Sample prompt

I’m participating in a pumpkin decorating contest. The theme is “historical figures.” I’m a terrible artist, so give me 2-3 clever ideas that a beginner could carve and provide detailed directions for making it.

Whip up a spooky app or dessert

Don’t want to show up to an event empty-handed? Let Copilot know what kind of food item you want to (and reasonably can) make, and it can offer recipes and step-by-step directions.

Sample prompt

I’m attending a friend’s Halloween potluck and want to bring a dessert that takes less than 40 minutes to make. What can I make if the party is all about dressing as your favorite Taylor Swift era? (I’m dressing up for The Life of a Showgirl.)

Score big smiles with class goodie bags

School commitments can go from stressful to easy (and even fun!) with Copilot’s help. Just ask for suggestions for goodie bags or the best places to shop for treats, and your kids will be the hit of the classroom.

Sample prompt

I need to make loot bags for my second grader’s class of 24 students for Halloween. What are some allergy-free candies to include, and what other fun items could I buy that would fit in a small plastic bag? I’d like to keep my spend under $60 total if possible.

Copilot’s response

Have a frightfully fun Halloween!
