Outlook should natively support CalDAV/CardDAV to pair with IMAP accounts. Many people only have access to IMAP email accounts and need to do this to simplify scheduling.
This is needed in both the desktop and mobile apps.

Completely agree. It's an utter pain having to use a plugin for an open source protocol, and the current offerings aren't very reliable.
