TobiasAT Thank you for reaching out pinning Microsoft Copilot. First, if a user has a paid Copilot for Microsoft 365 account, they would already have Copilot pinned to their Microsoft 365 apps and be able to access work chat, where they can access their Microsoft Graph data. The pinning outlined in this blog is for Microsoft Copilot which is the web only chat. For users without the paid license and only Microsoft Copilot, pinning would show the icon in 3 places only: the Teams, Outlook, and the Microsoft 365 app itself (not in other apps like Word, PPT, Excel, etc). If Microsoft Copilot is pinned in the 3 apps, then a user would have access to Microsoft Copilot web chat only. To access Copilot in other Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. or to have access to Microsoft Graph data in Copilot chat, a paid Copilot for Microsoft 365 license is required.
Regarding, the existing "Commercial data protection in Microsoft Copilot" service plan, that is being retired and will no longer apply. Whereas before that had to be enabled for a user to get CDP, we're making it easier with the update to EDP and all a user needs to do now is sign in to Microsoft Copilot with an Entra account and enterprise data protection is applied.
