Can't activate Office 365 Pro Plus on shared computer

Brass Contributor

Hey all,

On my PC, I get an error when I try to license Office.

The products we found in your account cannot be used to activate Office in shared computer scenarios. Error Code: 0x80004005.

I tried troubleshooting using this guide: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/troubleshoot-issues-with-shared-computer-activation-fo...

- Shared computer activation is enabled for Office 365 Pro Plus (in About Word).

- The SharedComputerLicensing value in registry is set to 1.

- I don't have any text files in the %localappdata%\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Licensing folder.

- I do have Office 365 Pro Plus license.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

@Simon_L Hi Simon, what kind of PC are you trying to install this on?  Is it a virtual machine by chance or RDS?

No, not a VM and not via RDS. Just a Windows 10 Pro PC that's AAD joined.

@Simon_L what kind of licensing do you have assigned to the account you are installing with?

Office is already installed. Licensing it is the issue. I have MS E3 license.

@Simon_L Can you confirm that Office 365 ProPlus is already installed on the box solely? So no Office 365 Business or other license types installed (in parallel)? Have you installed ProPlus from the portal, through the ODT or other ways?

What I did was just reset the Office activation (which removed the account info) and then re-sign in with my account.

The has fixed the issue.

@Simon_L how did you do this?
