Resolved! - We've updated the default timeout message users see when the Enrollment Status Page (ESP) exceeds the timeout value specified in the ESP profile in the 1904 (April) Intune service release. The new default message is what users see and helps them understand the next actions to take with their ESP deployment. To learn more see: Updated default timeout message on Enrollment Status Page.

We’ve reviewed several comments on our last Enrollment Status Page (ESP) post and then have been working directly with customers and reviewing support cases to narrow down and troubleshoot ESP errors. These helped us discover a specific scenario where ESP was not working as expected. Below, we provide the scenario details and a workaround.

When you have the following:

  • ESP
  • Office Click-to-Run (C2R) as a required app and then specified as a “Selected app” in the ESP profile
  • Windows 10 April 2018 Release (Windows RS4 version 1803)

You’ll find that ESP is timing out. Windows 10 October 2018 Release (Windows RS5) does not run into this experience. Today, you can work around this by not selecting Office C2R in the ESP profile as a selected app. Leave it as a required app and it will begin installation in the background. Intune is testing a fix for this known issue, which we expect to roll out in the April service release.

Blog post updates:

2/1/2021 - A fix for this issue was released in the 1904 (April) Intune service release.
