Updated 4/24/24: We have resolved this issue where users were incorrectly redirected to Intune Company Portal website. A fix has been included in the Intune Company Portal update (version 5.2403.0), available on the iOS/iPadOS App Stores. If you're impacted by this, please update to the latest version of the app to resolve.

We recently resolved an issue where users with iOS/iPadOS devices enrolling with Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) are unable to sign in to the Intune Company Portal app for iOS/iPadOS. Rather, users were incorrectly prompted to navigate to the Intune Company Portal website to enroll their device, and they are unable to complete enrollment. This issue had occurred for newly enrolled ADE users that are targeted with an “Account driven user enrollment” or “Web based device enrollment” enrollment profile and just in time (JIT) registration has not been set up.

While this known issue is resolved, we always recommend organizations using iOS/iPadOS ADE to have JIT registration set up for their devices for the best and most secure user experience. For more information, check out: Set up just in time registration to learn more.

This was driving me nuts for at least a week 🤦‍:male_sign: I tried setting up my iOS devices with JIT, using setup assistant with modern auth and it almost works except not a single time a single VPP app got downloaded and somehow the device name template wouldn't apply. I couldn't make it work and your support is still trying to recreate the issue so I switched back to Company Portal Authentication and it's not working anymore! I thought I broke Intune.

Hi, does JIT registration works even if intune users are synced from On Premise - active directory ( with AzureADConnect ) ?

  • Hi Leecur, yes, you can implement Just-In-Time (JIT) registration for iOS/iPadOS devices with an on-premises Active Directory. This registration can be applied to any Intune-enrolled devices that are enrolled either through Apple’s Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) or account-driven user enrollment. For more information, please visit Just in Time registration and compliance Remediation for iOS/iPadOS with Microsoft Intune to learn more. Please note that these features are available for iOS/iPadOS devices enrolling through Apple’s Automated Device Enrollment (iOS/iPadOS 13 and later) and account-driven Apple user enrollment (iOS/iPadOS 15 and later).
