Type Cover Stops Working When the Surface Pro Is Rotated by 90 Degrees

Surface Pro 2 Cover Keyboard keys not working
The cover keyboard / keypad suddenly stopped functioning - I am unable to operate any of the keys. Surface works fine if I use the onboard keypad via the screen. Have tried all I know with no success. Can anyone help me please? Thanks in advance
