Holiday calendar in the company

I created a mailbox with related permissions, so that we use the calendar for requesting and approving of holidays. If the approval approves a holiday request this time slot is changing to "Busy" automatically, but this is not desired. As it seems, it is By design so. What is the best option for holiday calendar within the company?
