Welcome to the January 2023 update. This month we are excited to announce the release of PivotTable show details to Excel for the web and the ability to automate your tasks with the Power Automate tab in Excel for Windows and Mac. For Insiders users on Windows and Mac, you can try recording your worksheet actions using Office Scripts and checking your formula with the value preview tooltip.

Curious to see how we at Excel utilize and implement your feedback? You can now see which features are a direct result of your feedback as they'll be marked with the Feedback In Action tile #FIA.

PivotTable show details

View the source data for a PivotTable value cell, now in Excel for the web. Double-click or right-click and choose Show Details from a value cell in your PivotTable to create a new sheet with the detailed rows for that cell. There is also a new button to activate the same functionality from the PivotTable tab of the ribbon.

Show Details is useful to help you understand how the values in your PivotTable were calculated. For example, if you see an unexpected value in your PivotTable, you can use Show Details to confirm whether the source data used to calculate that value is as expected or if there is an issue with the underlying data.

Hi Nacho, I think it's already has that shortcut, when you press ALT + ↓ to access the filter menu, then press E, it will automatically jump to search box. Hope this will help.

    Hi Excel Team,

    Hello Excel team,

I am writing to make a suggestion (sorry if this is not the right channel) that I think would be very useful if it were implemented.

It is clear that filters are a very used function in Excel, but the access to the dropdown is a bit cumbersome. Using ALT+↓ you can access the filters menu, but (and this is the suggestion) it would be nice to have a shortcut that, being in any row of a filtered column, would give you direct access to the search box of that column, so that you can automatically start typing the characters to filter.

Thank you very much for helping us so much and making us happy using and discovering excel every day.

  • Real "what's new" for me is what with beta data model finally works with DAX Studio. I believe that's next step to new data model and PowerPivot experience, have no idea which one exactly is coming.

May 2023 - This might not be the right place . . . but . . . I just uploaded/updated the Excel Update & with a new spreadsheet, I am sporadically unable to add words/info to cells or change font in cells. Advanced menu hows that editing cells is ticked & cell/sheet is not protected. Closing & opening the sheet has no affect. I'm operating Excel 2016, on Windows 10 Desktop. Ideas?
