YouTube full screen causes a grey bar on top - MacOS
Hello,
I do not know if this issue has been discussed here before. I apologize if it is a repetition.
I am on MacOS Ventura 13.6 on Version 119.0.2151.58 (Official build) (x86_64) of Microsoft Edge. I have been getting this gray bar on full-screen videos while on YouTube. I have been able to solve this by installing and using the app version of YouTube. But it is quite inconvenient to do that.
My friend, who uses an M1 Macbook Air (MacOS Sonoma), also has the same issue.
Both of us tried the Dev, Beta, and Canary versions. We cleared the caches, did a couple of fresh installs, turned off all extensions, reset Edge, etc. The issue persists after all this.
Does anyone know why this may be happening? Can the devs please address this in the next update? It is inconvenient sometimes to use the YouTube app. Right now I have settled for Version 117 of Edge and it seems okay but if you could kindly patch this, we could use the latest version without problems then.
Thanks.

This worked for me:
It can be disabled. In the menu bar click on "View">"Always Show Toolbar in Full Screen".
GrandPriest- maxzamarripaCopper ContributorThanks, this also worked for me.

diogo_garcia This works. But having to do this every single time and not being able to see the tabs and bookmarks once out of fullscreen is still an inconvenience. This should not be happening on a browser.
- Jaga2907Copper ContributorHi Garcia, unable to locate the view option at M1 Macbook Air (MacOS Sonoma)
- PeppeStrelloCopper Contributorhey man, on Edge go on view and disable always show toolbar in full screen mode ^^
- Nazar_SCopper ContributorThis sounds very similar to this problem so may try at least

Thanks for the response, Nazar_S. I tried the steps mentioned in that discussion thread. But nothing seems to help. This issue is only specific to Edge. Arc, Chrome, Opera, Brave, Firefox, and Safari do not seem to have this issue. So I think it is mainly an Edge issue. Surprisingly, it only happens when videos are played on full screen. When the Edge window is open with other websites, there is no gray bar. There is no gray bar even when using the web app version of YouTube. It's only when using the YouTube website with a full-screen video that this happens.
I hope they fix it.
