Note: This is no longer the most recent top feedback summary. You can always find the latest at https://aka.ms/MSEdgeTopFeedback.
Hey there, Insiders! This week is a big week, so let’s see what we’re updating!
We are truly excited to bring Linux into the family of supported operating systems for Microsoft Edge. Starting today, you can download our Edge Dev channel for Linux. To get the installer packages, you can head to our Microsoft Edge Insider site or install it directly from Microsoft’s Linux Software Repository. You can read more about the newest addition to the Edge family on our blog.
This week we’re opening up Add ability to close tabs via double-click for discussion, moving this item from Under Review to In Discussion. The team wants to know more about why you find this would be beneficial for you, so head over to the discussion thread to let us know!
A few weeks ago, we promised an update around history sync. Today, we’re updating the status from Planned for Summer to Planned for November. We know that you all are particularly excited about this feature, and we will have more details once we start rolling this into the Canary channel.
During Microsoft Ignite this year, we talked a bit about bringing kiosk mode to the new Edge. This week, we’re adding Enable kiosk mode to the list as Planned. We recently implemented the beginnings of this mode, however once we have more details we will provide an update here.
Lastly, we are updating the status of Add the ability to ink on web page content to Planned for October. While we have implemented the beginnings of this feature and some users may have seen it in Canary starting last month, we expect more users will see this in both Canary and Dev throughout the rest of this month.
Phew, this was a lot to throw at you all! Have some thoughts about this? Let us know through the feedback tool by heading to the … menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback. The team wants to know your suggestions and pain points. Until our next update!

@MissyQ can you please add this https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/msedge_search-msedge_win10/quick-links-janua... to the list ?
#1 allowing both the user to manually input a quick link and edge to Edit/remove it without asking is a nonsense
#2 why only seven ??? who is the $ù%^*@] that can only count up to 7 😉 learn at least until 20 !

Excited about kiosk mode.
Speaking of Microsoft Edge for Linux, hope to see availability in Xbox, HoloLens and other devices too, as it has been discussed before.

It is good to see that the Top Feedback Summary list is getting short week by week as edge team is addressing the features but I am also looking for new suggestions from the Insider team to come into this list.

just install https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/double-click-closes-tab/megplcpdkmjjoondippkedoaidkeikcm now
plus it depends where you click double. if we click on the page or directly on the tab. it's a big difference, because if you do on the page we get identical problem like with the extension (you close tabs when we don't want it, for example during modification of texts etc.). so we need to activate deactivate the extension continuosly, because during workflow 1 a double click is ok, during workflow 2 this is simply a ugly option.
double click on tab it's ok, but should be an option, not default. i still think close to left (like suggested) is much more important than a double click close tab. yes close left can be done via extension too...
EDIT: and you still need to go to tab bar before you need to click 2x. i think the best solution is to show a x once i click 2x on the page, so i just need to click this x to close the tab without need to move the mouse. maybe even an option double click not allowed for website x,y,z,....

That's how Edge works already. if having lots of tabs, the X mark is not shown by default, so you actually close them by double clicking on each tab.

@MissyQ Would you please support more Linux distros like Arch, Gentoo, Alpine Linux and Raspberry Pi 32/64 bit?
There are also many Arch users and Raspberry Pi users in the world. Also, Raspberry Pi is also widely used.
It is definitely a bad idea for Microsoft to only offer deb and rpm packages.
Thank you.

@DavidH0 Open source kills competition. If it was not for open source software we would still have various companies maintaining their browser engines. The lure of shared advantages is how just company, Google, has all the power to make any meaningful changes to the internet in general.
Put it another way, chromium in open source but how many of the forks ended up being as good as the new edge is today? None. Good software requires investment and return on investment comes when only you have the advantage. That's how capitalism works.
Hopefully, once the PWAs are sorted out, we'll again have some companies investing in their proprietary engines with their own special architecture.
Oct 25 2020 02:05 AM
why need opensource, if we already have 4 different edge browser (for FREE, we need to remember!) and there are at least 40+ chromium based browser in the world. if there is no enough choice, i think you need to first start to search "browser mac" in google. even me with over 100 profiles i don't have any problem to manage it over different browsers.
