No audio on Microsoft Edge
Hi again, sorry for the delay.
CSGO:
Diablo:
They can't be applied to Edge because Edge has no sound configuration.
found some related threads about it

https://superuser.com/questions/820845/how-to-get-5-1-audio-in-google-chrome
- F_StormenMar 28, 2020Copper ContributorThat is sooo strange in so many ways.
They proudly announced 2015 that they now was together wit Dolby Digital.
Google Chrome used to work but in december after upgrade the flags didnt work.
That Microsoft makes it kinda hard to use both edge legacy and chromium.
That in 2020 is no more browsers that just pass through a 5.1 signal to digital out.
Why is Neflix the only one with a App for windows that makes this work?
Why not HBO and viaplay etc. Amazon?
How is the signal for the hdmi? Is it 2 channel as well?
I think it got something to do with dolby chipset. But still a mp4 5.1 should just be passed through to digital out - Vandrey TrindadeMar 28, 2020Brass Contributor
Thanks!
But I don't have a Realtek audio card =/
Microsoft answered me on the Edge feedback program and told me that, at the moment, they don't intend to fix this...

I finally managed to get back old Edge Legacy to get surround working.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/DeployEdge/microsoft-edge-sysupdate-access-old-edge#side-by-side-experience-with-microsoft-edge-stable-channel-and-microsoft-edge-legacy
It was for me a bit tricky. Ive been reading hundreds of threads and tips. But this finally was the right way to go, at least this date today.
Here are my thoughts

You have a soundcard with probably realtek chipset and if 5.1 aint working in games etc it could be intresting to try out Alan finote software

Edge stable released and still no Surround sound support.

I really expected that someone at Microsoft would answer us...

Vandrey Trindade I still don't have a way to pass through surround in the current builds since this flag went away.
- Vandrey TrindadeDec 02, 2019Brass Contributor
That's correct.
So they never answered you, right?
Why that flag was removed when there is no option to allow surround instead of stereo?
Does your browser has sound in the current builds?
- ms4132Dec 01, 2019Iron Contributor
This may not be related but there was also a flag at one time that allowed me to cause 5.1 sound to be passed to my receiver.
Below is an old post from when this flag disappeared. Legacy edge is still able to pass through 5.1 sound, but the current Chromium Edge builds no longer seem to have this override available or the passthrough built in.
I'm happy to have any pointers if I have missed how to achieve this in the current builds.

Exactly, like the last comment user said on Fri, Jan 18, 2019:
"This problem still exists, and these flags don't seem to work anymore.
Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit) Windows 10, Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express 7.1 Sound Card."The only way for surround sound to work is using that flag that appears to be deprecated and I don't know why.
That's the reason why I came here to report it.
