High CPU usage on macOS

Hi,
please try disabling Microsoft Defender SmartScreen from the settings.

edge://settings/privacy

and see if it fixes the issue.

    HotCakeX Thanks for this. Your fix worked for me on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6. I've been experiencing high CPU with Edge 80.0.328.4 (Dev channel) and for at least two weeks/builds before that. Thanks!

        It still happens in 82.0.439.1 Dev(MacOs 10.15.3). I am very depressed how to solve it. Does anyone know the solution? (I have disabled Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, everytime I have to force stop edge and then start it.)
