Hello Insiders, today we’re releasing build 81.0.416.3 to the Dev Channel. We expect this to be the last build for major version 81, which means we will soon be bringing it to the Beta channel. Additionally, for those of you who have the Stable channel installed, we released our first update to Stable last week, bringing it up to major version 80, and for people on ARM64 machines, installing the native ARM64 build of Stable. We also started a discussion last week around Edge Legacy’s Tab Preview feature and what you’d like to see us do with it in the future: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/tab-preview-discussion/m-p/1160569. Finally, all of the features and fixes worth mentioning this week:
Added features:
Improved reliability:
Changed behavior:
Known issues:
As always, thanks for all your feedback and suggestions!

@HotCakeX it's in our backlog (because I added it myself!), but it's pretty low priority, so make sure you send feedback that you want it.

@HotCakeX the way we choose what to work on is completely manual, but the number of people requesting something (or if it's a bug, affected by something) is a major factor in prioritizing the work. And while it's great to have people chatting here about what they want in general, if there's a specific feature they're wanting or bug they're reporting, sending in-product feedback is the best way to make sure we get an accurate count.

The PDF inking function is still quite limited, is there any update on whether more colours/pen sizes/the ability to highlight with a pen might be made available as in the previous version of Edge?

Dev channel build 81.0.416.3 appears to be stuck in an update loop.
Clicking on Restart doesn't resolve the issue. Tried killing all msedge.exe processes to no avail.

My current version of Dev is Version 81.0.416.6 (Official build) dev (64-bit), but I see no notes on it....

@HotCakeX yeah, that's one of the unfortunate side-effects of using random targeting for feature rollouts, one day you have something, they next day you don't!

@BoydB have you tried restarting your computer? Usually when this happens, it's because some other program that's open has a lock on Edge, and instead of trying to figure out which program that is, restarting the device will close everything, which should let you update.

@josh_bodner Tried restarting, yes. Never got out of the update loop - it always stayed on 81.0.416.3. Resorted to old Edge, downloaded the latest chromium Edge Dev and installed it. Now running on 81.0.416.6, and the browser shows it is now up to date.

@BoydB We just released a small update to .11 this morning, so you should see if you can get Edge to update normally this time.

Amazing stuff Josh! You guys have built a great browser. Edge is now being deployed as the default and only browser available throughout our national network of Managed Service Providers and we have had nothing but positive feedback. #byechrome
