Hello insiders, today we’re releasing build 80.0.361.5 to the Dev channel! This is the final build for major version 80, which means it’s also our next Beta channel candidate. This is also the final Dev channel update for the year; we don’t expect to publish anything more until January. However, we couldn’t leave you without some holiday treats, so here are all of the feature rollouts that have been recently completed for the Canary and Dev channels.
First, we’ve officially opened up the new Edge Extension Store for submissions! You can read more about the process for submitting to the store in this blog post: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2019/12/16/get-started-extensions-addons-microsoft-edge-chromium.
Next, for the web developers, we’ve published an example application on our GitHub page that serves as a comprehensive API demonstration of our new WebView2 control. You can read more about how to use it in this blog post: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2019/12/11/webview2-interactive-api-sample.
For our ARM enthusiasts, we’re bringing our native ARM64 builds to the Dev channel today! These builds have been in Canary for the last few weeks, and we’ve ironed out most of the major issues during that time. There’s still one known issue though: certain DRM video on some websites doesn’t play properly.
If you didn’t see it last week, we made a short post here about some of our work on the Mac touch bar: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Articles/Try-the-revamped-Touch-Bar-experience-on-Microsoft-E....
Finally, we’ve got three features to look for in upcoming builds.
Before we get on with the rest of the features and additions that are worth mentioning this week, you should know that favorites sync is still disabled for the majority of users. This includes brand new machines you install Edge on, so if you’re setting up Edge for the first time and want access to your favorites, you’ll need to manually export your favorites to a file on a different machine and import them on the new one. We’re also working on a deduplication mechanism once favorites sync is re-enabled, which should prevent new duplicates from coming in as well as remove duplicates for users who have already had their favorites duplicated.
Added features:
Improved reliability:
Changed behavior:
Known issues:
Thank you for a great 2019 and for all of your help building both this community and the new Edge. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Hi,
I personally prefer the gray/clear icon folder, however I don't see this 'little problem' as major for now. Of course, an option for choice ourselves will be better but not an absolute priority for now. Features as synchronisation (favorites/history/collections/etc...) or the bug about some extensions (Malwarebytes Browser Guard or Microsoft Shopping Assistant, among others) are more important for me.
Thank.

Working correctly on Version 81.0.381.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit)
tried both with and without changing the default name
@HotCakeX It's great! Expecting the next build of Dev and Beta will also work correctly.
Yes, they'll probably release the next Dev update on monday
@HotCakeX I tried Canary 81.0.385.0 but the issue still occurs.
The default file type is "Webpage, Single File" + default filename = save as ".html" instead of ".mhtml"

Microsoft shouldn't make one group happy and the other group sad.I think it was wrong to change the colors to yellows without a proper public poll or survey.
because now there are people who don't like it.
I like a lot of your contributions in this community, but really, this is getting over-dramatic. Microsoft can adjust the UI as they please. They're not going to make it optional, most likely, and I think that's fine. Anyone who wants ultra-granular control over the UI can switch to Vivaldi or can learn CSS and knock themselves out. MS needs to pick a color and stick with it, and I think they have already made their choice. What browser makes folder color a settings option?

@sdmmr I figured out why other people weren't seeing this issue: you have to try to save the page multiple times. The first time, when you select "Webpage, Single File", it remembers that selection. So, the next time, it puts that as the default in the dropdown. However, the suggested name of the file appears to be hardcoded to be ".html", regardless of what the setting of the dropdown is. I'll open a bug!

Is there any ETA on the GPU bug fix? It's driving me mad having to open the task manager every 5 minutes to kill the process. That's no exaggeration, either.
@Mapantz we're due for a Dev update soon, so if you can't test out the latest Canary and see if it happens there too, I would just wait for the next Dev update and see what happens there. If it's still happening in the latest builds, we'll have to open a support ticket so we can get some more info from you since I suspect it's got something to do with your particular GPU.

@ikjadoon good investigation work! Canary and Dev usually have the same major build number, so they're both 81 right now (or at least, they will be after our next Dev update. The only time they differ is the week or so between the last Dev build of a particular major number, but that week this time just happened to fall on the couple of weeks during the holidays when we weren't publishing a new Dev build!)

@davequail I'm not too surprised that you're still seeing issues with favorites duplication on Dev. The good news is that they should only happen once for each machine that had favorites sync turned off. We just re-enabled favorites sync for Dev users, and as machines came back online, many had backed-up items that hadn't had a chance to sync properly until now. So, once all your machines are back online, the duplication should stop, and any further changes you make should sync properly. If that's not the case, please let me or @MissyQ know.

@josh_bodner @MissyQ Thanks for the explanation, Josh. I will be sure to let the community know if there are still further issues with Sync.

Just FYI, as of the wee hours 1/7 with Version 80.0.361.23 (Official build) dev (64-bit) Favs sync is not On, yet. Maybe, once Dev updates, again/next. It IS On in the latest Canary, Version 81.0.385.0; as is Collections, also. BTW, when it did appear as On in canary there was no duplication or repopulating of anything.
Cheers,
Drew

@Drew1903 @josh_bodner Hi Drew, it is turned on on my Version 80.0.361.23 (Official Build) dev (64-bit). This has been the main reason for my posts on Sync this past week.

@davequail
Dave,
No worries (or surprise, really)... it is so frequent that features AND fixes do not hit all devices simultaneously. Hence, my having been sure to include the word "yet".
Cheers,
Drew

Please don't get confused here. whether you like/dislike my contribution is none of my concern, I can't please everyone, I'm not pizza ;)

there is nothing wrong with that statement, it's fair and reasonable.
Microsoft made this browser to be used by people.

edge://sync-internals/
You can check the details in here, in the type tab you can get more information in case there was any conflicts or duplication

@josh_bodner
- Chrome Canary 81.0.4022.0 - works fine.
- Edge Canary 81.0.387.0 - do not work
- Edge Dev 81.0.381.0 - do not work
- Edge Beta 79.0.309.60 = works fine.
Tell me please, does Edge have some features/components about https traffic inspection? There is confidence that the problem is here.
